Tuesday 21st June 2022

Woke to alarm at 0730, but dozed for a while. Aki brought a mug of tea. Got up around 0900 and sat at the computer for the morning. Bowl of porridge. Broke for lunch. Put together a ham salad. Message from Bob Karper to say that tonight's show at the Hope Theatre is cancelled as he's tested positive for covid. We decided to walk down to Islington green anyway, and have dinner at the Afghan Kitchen as planned. Simona called to say she needed rescuing, as someone has had to drop out of "Coram Boy"...it's the Tower's summer Minack show, so I signalled my interest, subject to reading the script and seeing the rehearsal schedule. Did another three hours at the computer, before breaking at 1715. Walked down to the Afghan Kitchen for dinner. Pleasant, warm evening. Had our favourite...chicken in yoghurt stew, aubergines in chilli oil and yoghurt, and their nutty, flavoursome rice. Ambled slowly back home via Highbury Fields. Decided not to take the role in "Coram Boy" as it demands too heavy a commitment rehearsals as well as performance wise, there being two weeks at the Tower prior to heading for Cornwall. Decided I want to concentrate exclusively on comedy, and thus want to save myself for the Ayckbourn later in the year.
