Friday 24th June 2022

Alarm at 0730....woke to the news that the Lib Dems had overturned a Tory majority of 24,000 to win Honiton and Tiverton! Hope at last!!! Got up and uploaded yesterday's photos. Breakfasted on porridge and tea. Aki popped out for a meeting with Helen and Martin about the early stages of a job refurbishing a 70s era shopping centre on Canvey Island. I worked until lunchtime, then watched some tennis from Eastbourne. Aki got back around 1400 and made a late lunch. Watched Kvitova v Haddad Maia. Got up a ladder out front for a bit, re-training the ever lengthening wisteria. Walked to Finsbury park and caught a Piccadilly line train into Kings X. Met up with Sotoko and Rob for dinner at Granary Square Brasserie...they do a very reasonably priced early bird set menu...had a very tasty white onion soup, followed by minute steak and fries. Aki and Sotoko had a glass of white wine apiece...which added £26 to the bill!!! Then wandered over to Kings Place to see some Japanese Noh Theatre. The first half comprised two male singers, telling the story apparently, accompanied by drum, and high-pitched whistle. There was no set, and no movement....no spectacle. It was very boring. I would have happily not gone back in for the second half, but the others went in so I followed. The masked 'dancer' eventually appeared and moved around a bit to the drum and whistle, and then it was over and we escaped into the night! Noh more...!!!
