Wednesday 19th April 2023

Alarm at 0730. Made tea and took it downstairs for breakfast in the restaurant. Spent the day in the car in and around Swansea. Broke for lunch and parked up in a street on the western fringe of the city centre, and walked into the shopping zone. Lunched in the cafe at M&S. The chicken wrap was tasty enough. Ended the day in the Quayside quarter, aiming for dinner at Lotus, but it was packed, so ended up in the Indian restaurant in the old J Shed opposite. Aki had been invited out to Highgate for a showing at the Dartmouth Park Film Club in the company of friends and neighbours Helen and Martin...who had persuaded their neighbour Viv along (on the far right in the photo). She was the guitarist in all female punk outfit, The Slits, one of the first punk bands I saw, at a gig at Newcastle University in 1977! Aki told her I had stuck a framed copy of their album cover for "Cut" on the wall in our hallway. Helen and Martin met her shortly after she'd moved into an intriguing modern infill development a few doors down from their house...she had been seeking planning advice. Not sure what she's up to these days, though she told Aki that a special edition of "Cut" was due for release this coming weekend to mark Record Store Day.
