Wednesday 24th July 2024

Aki up early to ready herself for Rowing Club. I woke around 0900. Got up and saw her off. Porridged. Walked to Stoke Newington Church Street via Clissold Park. Picked up a couple of pastel de nata on the way to Tamara's flat for an initial meet to discuss the possibility of being in the band for the Tower's October production of "The Worst Witch". She brewed some coffee, and we had a brief catch up...hadn't realised she'd been working on Simona's outdoor production of "Much Ado...". She had actually gotten paid for her work, and reckoned she'd learnt a lot. She had sheet music for "Witch"...it didn't look too complicated, and she reckoned the difficult bits could be covered by the pianist, so I signalled my interest and took the sheet music away with me. Walked through Abney Park Cemetery and then zigzagged through the residential streets of Stamford Hill until I came to Clapton Common, and walked down Spring Hill to the cafe next to the Rowing Club. Aki sat outside with various rowing mates...no-one I particularly knew, but had a chat with Neal, who hails from Tynemouth, and retains the accent. Aki and I lunched on veggie burgers and fried eggs in brioche buns before the party disbanded. Aki cycled off home, and I walked back up Spring Hill to catch a No.253 bus back to Holloway. Had a work through the sheet music...chords are all manageable, but the bits of lead will take a bit of working out...fortunately there isn't too much of it. I emptied the boot of the car ahead of tomorrow's MOT Test...checked the oil, and it was very low. Walked down to AutoParts on Holloway Road and bought a litre of top-up oil; walked back and poured it into the engine. Aki cooked hake for dinner, with spelt and vegetables. Worked on some Kinks numbers before bath and bed...
