Friday 23rd August 2024

Woke around 0900. Ventured downstairs, taking a cuppa tea and my overnight oats back upstairs. Read some Dickens, and started the new Book Club pick, J G Farrell's "The Siege of Krishnapur". Did some admin upstairs regarding the Power of Attorney...suggested to dad that it may be wise to draw up similar documents to allow me some control over mother should dad shed this mortal coil first. He intimated that it might be a good idea to set the process in train. I made lunch. Kath and I took mum down to the new cafe on Darras Broadway…it has the feel of a tv set for a soap. We were sat on a round table with a plastic olive tree branching out of its centre. Still, the chocolate brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce were particularly good. Did a quick shop in the Co-op before heading back to High View. Kath and I ventured out to do some steps. Walked down the farm tracks behind Callerton, then down the old railway line that has been turned into a footpath and cycle way, ending up behind the Middle School, walking across the football pitches. Kath cooked a chicken fricassee with mashed potatoes for dinner. Watched the amazing Anthony McGill play Mozart's Clarinet Concerto...superb stuff!
